The Institute of Directors. The Government has set out how industry can decarbonise in line with net zero while remaining competitive and without pushing emissions abroad.
Commenting on the strategy, IoD Head of Policy and Corporate Governance Dr Roger Barker said:
“This new Industrial Decarbonisation Strategy is an important link between the UK’s commitment to achieving a net-zero economy by 2050 and delivering practical change at the level of individual sectors and companies.
“The business community faces huge practical challenges in transitioning to a low carbon economy. It is important smaller organisations in particular are given financial incentives to support their adjustment and investment in green technologies. Developing a broader understanding of decarbonisation strategies among business leaders, through improved access to training and advice, will also help to ensure green agendas are embedded throughout firms and the economy.
“A meaningful partnership between Government and business will be essential in realising these objectives, as the UK pushes towards its net zero goals.”
