Unconscious Bias


David Stringer-Lamarre, MD of Fortis CL and an Imperial College alumnus was pleased to attend this Imperial Women’s Network event on Unconscious Bias at EY in More London.

This event explored the role of unconscious bias in the careers of women with a focus around recruiting, career development, reward and progression.  It looked at the nature and impact of unconscious bias and reviewed what research suggest people we can do to mitigate the effects.

These included:countering sterotypes, taking perspective, avoiding reinforcement, slowing down decision making and challenging bias.

The session was delivered by Dr Pete Jones of Shire Professional Chartered Psychologists.
