David Stringer-Lamarre, an alumnus of the Business School, was pleased to have been invited to attend this China focused event.
Professor Bruce McKern spoke about the framework of the book, which is based on a four year programme of research by the CEIBS Centre on China Innovation. He mentioned that many companies are undertaking incremental innovation and that China is currently investing 2% of GDP on research & development.
Professor George Yip noted that Chinese companies have a fast ‘trial & error’ process and sometimes there is an acceptance of ‘good enough’ for some products. He suggested that western companies are more conservative in their innovation than Chinese companies.
