‘Banks & FinTechs: collaborating for a better future.’

David Stringer-Lamarre, MD of FortisCL, within his role as Chairman of the Institute of Directors, City of London, was pleased to moderate this 120+ person event at HSBC in Canary Wharf.

The fintech industry valued at c$20bn in 2017 is one of the major forces shaping the banking industry. The acceleration has been astonishing and part of the early success of fintech has been down to the desire to challenge the status quo taking on the heritage players.  But as the fintech sector evolves, rather than being David -v- Goliath, incumbents and fintechs are beginning to grasp that the greatest opportunity for the sector and the customer is through collaboration.

Both Banks and Fintech collaborating face challenges of new partnership  as well as the potential to grasp the opportunities ahead.  A panel of eminent speakers drawn from different parts of the ecosystem discussed who stands to come out on the top given the challenges the industry faces from non-financial services players, what it takes to secure growth collaboratively and key predictions for future changes.
